Susquehanna Bank recently pledged $20,000 to North Central Sight Services, Inc. (NCSS) to support their capital campaign for a building project to allow them to offer new and existing services to the eight counties served in North Central Pennsylvania. In recognition of this gift, the bus shelter will be named in honor of Susquehanna Bank.
”Our campaign goal is to raise $1,200,000 to help reduce the debt on our newly renovated 63,000 square foot building,” said Ken Sawyer, NCSS Campaign Chairman, according to a news release. “We believe that the new facility is a positive statement for our organization and meets the current and future needs of NCSS and the people we serve.”
NCSS is a community agency based in Williamsport with a proud tradition of blindness prevention and service to the visually impaired and legally blind residents of Lycoming, Clinton, Centre, Tioga, Bradford, Susquehanna, Sullivan and Potter counties. The NCSS philosophy, the news release continues, focuses on helping people help themselves and emphasizes the abilities and capabilities of the blind and visually impaired people served. To accomplish this mission, NCSS offers a variety of rehabilitation services, an industry program that provides various types of employment opportunities for the blind and visually impaired, and a prevention of blindness program that includes eye screenings, public education, referral services and the provision of low vision aids
